RECYCLING CLASSROOM ON WHEELS!
Green Living Science (GLS) has been providing field trips on behalf of Detroit youth for many years and understands the challenges teachers face in providing an engaging and unique experience for students. Limited budgets, ever-growing class sizes, and transportation issues are just a few of the obstacles teachers face when scheduling field trips for their students. To combat the challenges teachers face in putting together field trips, GLS is proud to introduce the Traveling Plastic Recycling Workshop!
A machines were built using the open source blueprints from Precious Plastic. The plastic shredding machine and injector machine have already been built and fully functional! These machines will be inside of a trailer that can be easily towed to schools, allowing students at the workshop to watch complete demonstrations of the plastic recycling process in action!
While students attend the workshop, they will learn about humans' use of disposable plastics and the impact disposables, from microplastics found in the ocean to litter found on the sidewalk, have on our planet. An understanding of plastic pollution will encourage students to make changes in their own lives to help become part of the solution.
REQUIREMENTS FOR CLASSROOM:
both machines are currently on a small trailer the size of 80” x55” x77” - this small trailer must fit the large trailer
3 benches to fit about 6 students - these must be movable as needed for demonstrations outside of the trailer
storage and display shelving required
environmentally sustainable, economically realistic
