OUR STORY

Green Living Science (GLS) is an outgrowth of Recycle Here!, Detroit’s drop-off recycling center and the city’s neighborhood recycling program.  We began working with the Detroit Public Schools in 2007, in partnership with their Office of Math and Science.  Since then, we’ve reached more than 90,000 students.

Over the years, we’ve expanded our offerings to include educational programs, recycling programs and field trips and tours.  We’ve also increased the scope of our constituents to include educators, workplaces, local communities and other groups.  GLS was incorporated as a
501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2011.

WHO WE SERVE

SCHOOLS

Green Living Science (GLS) always has and will view education as our primary mission. We pride ourselves on working hand in hand with like-minded teachers and schools, offering educational programs, recycling programs and field trips, which are integrated to meet your specific needs and opportunities.

BUSINESS

Green Living Science (GLS) offers a certification to recognize recycling businesses in the city! The program offers services to help set up a sustainable recycling program in the space and education for staff. For more information about the Bee Green Business program, visit www.BeeGreenBusiness.org

COMMUNITY

Given our commitment to and involvement with schools, it comes as no surprise that it is our mission to educate about recycling and proper waste disposal options in Detroit. Helping to share information about what will happen to our city if we don't work on sustainable initiatives.
