Student Recycling Ambassadors

About Our SRA Program

Green Living Science offers two, 4-day Student Recycling Ambassador cohorts for exemplary Detroit high school students interested in environmentalism and sustainability and looking for ways to get involved. This program is designed for Earth-minded youth to educate and empower themselves, while also working within the community to help make Detroit a cleaner, greener city.

Students chosen to participate will engage in recycling education programs, ultimately learning how to educate, encourage, and sign up Detroit residents to recycle at home. In addition, they will gain valuable professional development skills and attend  on-site experiences at sustainability and waste reduction facilities. The goal is to introduce students to green jobs, climate-based` college degrees, and prepare them for a future in these professional spaces.

Thanks to funding from Henry Ford Health and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, Green Living Science can also provide stipends to these high school students uninvolved in the program as an expanded part of the recycling ambassadors.

Green Living Science will be holding TWO 4-day cohort programs for current incoming Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Detroit high school students. In 2025, the program will run from June 16th-19th and June 23rd-26th
